I don't know much about these combi models, other than the fact that Victor offered some Victrolas that were designed for the optional installation of a radio by the owner. I'm wondering if this is one of them, or if the radio was installed at the factory. The radio, itself, looks old and from the period:

If authentic, this would be relatively rare model, especially if all of the electronics are there.

Looks like a VV-215, actually: iirc, the 210 had a single lid… but, if the radio is original , that's a pretty good find!

I wondered about the split lid too. But the craigslist example doesn't have the storage drawer or knobs above the record storage area and the horn that the VV-215 has. It's just a flat panel, which was used on the VV-210:

Unless, of course, the flat panel was used on the "S" model version in place of the drawers on the 215, or perhaps, a split lid was installed for the radio ready (S) version of the 210. I don't know enough about these radio-equipped pre-Orthophonic models to say, since they don't turn up very often.
BTW, I too thought this looked like a bargain, but based on the lack of responses to this string, I gather there's not much interest among collectors in these Victrola/radio combinations.

Anybody here going to take it home? This isn't too far from my house, which might be its next destination.

At $50 I don't see how you could possibly go wrong. And these early combos are neat transitional machines.Player-Tone wrote:Anybody here going to take it home? This isn't too far from my house, which might be its next destination.

I sent three emails through two different accounts- it has been nearly 3 days since I sent the first one and I haven't received any response. This is very frustrating!

That normally means it's "sold". The seller is just too lazy to remove the ad.Player-Tone wrote:I sent three emails through two different accounts- it has been nearly 3 days since I sent the first one and I haven't received any response. This is very frustrating!

I saw one of these without the radio in an antique store a few years ago. There was a brass plate (like the id tag) attached to the board on the left hand side procalaiming that any radio installed here was not a product of the Victor corporation and that they would be willing to sell you a new board should you wish one. I guess when that radio fad passed you could restore your victrola to factory spec.

Don't give-up hope... sometimes I've been surprised with a positive response from a CL seller...
Let's hope it finds a good home, hopefully within our extended family !
