Edison stylus replacement on C/H/K

I'm wanting to try a stylus replacement.Is there a certain "glue/shellac" that works better than others? I've been reading about how to do it. I have a magnifying glass,soldering iron,tweezers and a way to hold the reproducer. From what I read you just heat the stylus bar around the stylus for a second and it'll move if you want to turn it or remove it. How far do you let it stick out? Where is the best and cheapest place to buy styli? One of my C and H reproducers need total replacements. The styli are gone.
