Not a bad price for this machine, but I noticed something a bit different about the reproducer:

If I am not mistaken it is the wrong one-it looks like an orthoponic portable

If it fits, or has been properly modified to fit, it should sound great.

Yes, the reproducer was from a Victrola Orthophonic portable.need4art wrote:If I am not mistaken it is the wrong one-it looks like an orthoponic portable

This poor thing has been relisted several times now at a much lower price, and still it's gettin' no love. I'd be all over it if it were closer.

Looks like the price is getting closer to reality.

The price has dropped considerably. I keep seeing it drop on Ebay.

Re: Orthophonic Cortez...
Its and 8 hr round trip for me. With the look of the lid, unless someone can tell me this is a really rare bird, the price and the drive make it a little to high yet for me. Not to mention getting a correct reproducer would probably be a booger.

Re: Orthophonic Cortez...
There is, what appears to be, the correct reproducer on Ebay right now:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Brunswi ... RTM1562571
It should be gold plated-can't tell if this one is painted or plated from the photographs. I can't guarantee that it is the correct one, but it looks like the one on my Cortez.
