While I was waiting for some family to arrive at Greenfield Village for Motor Muster last weekend, I was wandering around the gift shop and this caught my eye. It's the same size and construction as a cylinder record box, except it was tea! Has anyone else spotted similar packaging for things other than records? (In case anyone wants to stock up on tea boxes and use them for records when you're done: http://www.elmwoodinn.com/ )

That's awesome! Cylinder storage with a pleasant smell for a change.
Thanks

I just saw these in my local Marshalls today. Very strange to see a "cylinder" box on the shelf of a major retailer!

Is the tea good...I think it would be cool if there was a record in there.

I think I've seen these at Cost Plus World Market. I go there from time to time mainly to browse the teas.52089 wrote:I just saw these in my local Marshalls today. Very strange to see a "cylinder" box on the shelf of a major retailer!

Re: Edison Green Tea Amberol?
Actually there are still quite a few companies
that produce spirally wound paper tubes and
paper caps.
These boxes can be ordered cut to any length,
and wound in any diameter.
A typical 2 minute cylinder box is
2.375 I.D. x .060 wall x 4.5 inches long with two
paper caps, one glued.
These boxes cost anywhere from around 40 cents each
to $1.50 each when ordered in quantities, depending
upon which company quotes them.
A good share of these companies are located
in Cleveland, Ohio. Currently one of these companies
in particular is on a campaign to try and advertise
these sorts of boxes for fancy, expensive items
such as tea and spices. Google Custom Paper Tube Co.

Yeah, I saw this one a few years ago. It IS indeed a Cylinder tube. I was surprised myself when I first saw them.. Drink tea, then store your cylinder.. What could be better??
