Do you know about the excellent reissue by Berlin Phono Works? Perhaps you want an original but just thought it worth mentioning.

Re: WANTED: YOUR THE CREAM IN MY COFFEE
They don't have any and aren't making anymore. I have bought a few cylinders from them and they are great. I tried to get Norm to sell me an old copy, but he said he didn't keep any.Valecnik wrote:Do you know about the excellent reissue by Berlin Phono Works? Sorry... Edison Blue Amberol 5642 - Golden Gate Orchestra
You're the Cream In My Coffee
This is a very late cylinder. The selection was recorded in Nov. 1928 - less than a year before the Edison company stopped recording entirely.

"The phonograph is not of any commercial value."

Re: WANTED: YOUR THE CREAM IN MY COFFEE
Curt, I'm not sure where you find some of your information. However, even as a non-cylinder collector......I know this is a very sought after "blue Amberol cylinder record". I know friends that have been looking for years to get one and will pay whatever is needed.Curt A wrote:WHY??? - Would you pay $500 for that cylinder? Who is the artist and what type of cylinder - it has to be a repro made from a disc? This is too late to be a real cylinder title, since it wasn't written until 1928...
"You're the Cream in My Coffee" a popular song, was published in 1928.
The music was written by Ray Henderson, the lyrics by Buddy G. DeSylva and Lew Brown and appears in the Broadway musical Hold Everything! and is featured in the Warner Brothers film version of the musical in 1930.
The song was recorded by Annette Hanshaw and Jack Hylton in 1928.
If you want this on brown wax, ask Shawn Borri to record it for you for $45...

I'm not certain that posting this opinion is appropriate on another members "wanted" ad. Do you..??.Curt A wrote:I stand corrected... I have only heard of it on disc records, so it was a knee-jerk reaction... I still wouldn't pay $500 for it, though. Thanks for correcting me...

Re: WANTED: YOUR THE CREAM IN MY COFFEE
$500 would be the low end of what this cylinder usually goes for. I can also attest it is indeed a real cylinder. Here is my original copy playing on the Amberola V (recorded before I gently reamed it to correct the out of round condition, so excuse the slightly wobbly sound):Curt A wrote:I still wouldn't pay $500 for it, though.

Re: WANTED: YOUR THE CREAM IN MY COFFEE
Curt didn't mean no harm, I think. A member here put one on eBay, but I had it up and was going to snipe it at the end and it went off at 510.00 and I didn't get to bid. My wife was talking to me and I looked up and it was gone. I collect cylinders and I WILL PAY 500.00 for it any time.gramophone78 wrote:Curt, I'm not sure where you find some of your information.
