Don't cut this rug!...

Post by Dave »

eBay Item #201114409097

Could it..might it..be what it says it is?

I'm not inspired by the seller as they state..."Eldridge R. Johnson was the co-creator of the Victor Talking Machine Co."

This eBay seller recently acquired a very large collection from a prominent collector of nipper items. I wouldn't have any doubt that it is genuine, many of the items they squired were used in the Nipper Collectibles books.

isn't this $750 edison mirror from the 70s though? there weren't any such advertisements actually from the era on mirrors, were there?

otherwise, I guess it's always nice to see a fine collection bought, broken up and resold piece by piece.

That's what happens when people pass away, there are few instances where a collection can realistically be kept intact after the owner is gone.

No Dave, this seller has been slowly selling the collection for over a year now. It was a large world renowned collection. Very extensive and with many, many very rare HMV artifacts. The collector will be missed by many. As mentioned already....if you buy either or both of the Rolfs HMV collectibles books....you will see many of these fine pieces.
