Spring Grease
recently restored a Pathé model 50 disc table top machine. I have always used automotive bearing grease to lube the mainsprings of all machines. This machine however seems to need another type. Any Ideas ?

Re: Spring Grease
Does this have the double spring Heineman "Motor of Quality"?
I have used black Moly-Lithium Grease on Heineman Motors. Some choose to oil the gears, some grease them, I finally resorted to cleaning and then a little moly lithium grease on all gears except the "Fiber" spindle gear. Do not oil or grease the fiber gear. However, Starr service literature does tell you to lubricate it, but do not as this can cause wear to this gear.
I chose to grease the gears as the gears are a little worn on the motor. Motor wear seems very common on Heineman Motors.

Re: Spring Grease
No this motor looks more like the motors That I have seen on French Pathés. It was made using no castings or fiber gears
