Credenza X ... x3

This reappeared on CL a few times, and finally with a price. It needs a lot of help: feet gone or shot, back wrecked by water, lid supports don't hold, generally rough and filthy cabinet. Grille & its cloth both intact and looking okay. Reproducer's retaining ring is broken in one spot, so will prolly fall apart when removed. A piece is broken out of the face, but I see no pot-metal cracks or crumbling, otherwise. Tone-arm's gold is pretty decent, motor spins nicely and should be okay. I forget the serial number ... 75xx , I think.

Turns out the owner works in my neighborhood & will deliver the machine next week. It'll be my basement junker, playing when I'm tinkering on stuff or doing laundry....or just playing records. Crummy enough to prevent guilt feelings over relegating it to the cellar, and cheap - although the return trip took 5 hours & $206 to have a seized brake caliper replaced!

(--ps-- "x3" because now I have 3 electric Credenzas - X , X , and 8-30X . Nobody NEEDS 3, I realize. )

I just tested the motor and it runs very nicely! Had to short-out the 2amp fuse, although it doesn't look blown. These induction motors are nearly bullet-proof - this is my 4th & all work perfectly, needing only a little oil. This machine lacks a brake, just like my other X - just a switch under the turntable, which is allowed to spin to a stop.

As for Hz, this one is marked for "25 to 60 cycles" ; the other X says "40 to 60" and the 8-30X says "25 to 40" ... I haven't checked it for years, but I seem to recall that a spare motorboard just says "60 cycles" . They all look the same to me.

I had that delima about Credenzas at one point when I had fourteen at one time. I have since sold several to bring the numbers down. Don't feel guilty about putting yours in the cellar cause at least it's being used again.
