Re: Jerry Donnell Estate Auction Aug 30-Sept 1
I was fortunate to have visited Jerry a handful of times in both his D.C. home and in Harper's Ferry (once). The Harper's Ferry visit was short (I was on an anniversary trip with my wife!), but I recall numerous nice outside horn machines in his D.C. home. Those D.C. visits were in the late 70's and early to mid 80's, so he may well have sold or given away some machines. I was a new collector during my first visit and I recall seeing my first Victor VI and a glass-sided Zonophone A with the fancy cast support arm. In his basement/cellar there were literally piles of parts and horns. I hope that the lack of those items in the upcoming auction is because Jerry himself found new homes for them and not due to theft.
Jerry was indeed a one-of-a-kind individual.
