Question: Has anyone here ever ordered a Repro Edison Standard Morning Glory Horn from Wyatt's???!??? If so, Please tell if you liked it or not. Also, If you ordered it painted, What was the total with tax and shipping?

I don't know of anyone purchasing a repro morning glory horn. There are too many originals floating around out there. I have two in the local antique shop and they have been there at least two years. Granted, they have been poorly repainted. Why not take a similar horn, strip it, and have it wood grained? If Wyatt's reproductions are the same good quality as the cygnet horns, they are probably very nice. Another thought... if you advertised for a horn in the trader section, I bet several nice horns would show up at the Orlando show. I've found that shipping a morning glory horn to be very expensive. I too am interesed in knowing more about reproduction horns including the 19 inch Victor Pedal horns I see at places like Wyatt's. Are they pretty good or not?

Do I prefer original? Yes, I do. Though at the same time some of us live in parts of the country where such things are not as plentiful and simply do not appear with any frequecy at garage sales, antique malls etc. This leads to them being in the hands of collectors who frequently want very high prices (which I don't totally begrudge them).

So I think there is an interest in reproduction which I suppose have the potential of saving not only some $ but looking darn close to the original. Speartip Horn from Peru comes to mind (am very pleased with mine by the way though I can't say to vistors that "that puppy is 100 years old" but then there is the "how does someone in 2014 even know how to handcraft such thing" convesation!).

Yes I am sure shipping is high on such items. Driving to Union to get one isn't free either. Shipping for a original and a repro is going to the same in the end too.

Lots of folks have looked at this posting and I am surprised no one has chimed in with any first hand experience or pictures. Please do so if you have any feedback regarding the horn asked about kick off to this post.

I purchased one from Wyatt's, 10 panel Cygnet, painted. The horn arrived in perfect condition with outstanding paint. Was not cheap but sure is nice.

I have two of the repro horns that came prepainted. One is a cygnet and the other is a two piece Fireside horn. I was very pleased with both and the painting and gold stripes look nice.

I bought a 19 inch pedal horn for my Vic II back in 2007 from Wyatt`s. The quality of the horn and paint was exceptional.

Now that I have been shopping and trading a little more since then I am confident enough to buy original and for a similar price, a very decent original at that.

If you are looking for that brand new sharp look in your living room then I would feel very comfortable with buying a horn from Wyatt`s Musical Americana.

Is the Wyatt horn the one on your Gem or the one on your Fireside? If it's the one on your Fireside, I've got to hand it to them. They really nailed the color. Hard to get that iridescent red right.

That Cygnet looks beautiful! And that Fireside horn looks just as good too!

For the Edison Standard, He charges $255.00 for the horn, and paint and shipping is extra.

I'm impressed with the quality of the Cygnet.
