CAN'T GET SPRING IN EDISON HOME

Post by ambrola »

I have installed many springs, but this one is a butch. My hands are so sore I can't do it right now. Is there a way to put it in a vice and wind it?

Yes, Put the spring barrel in the vice with a block of wood under it so it doesn't move. Put leather palm gloves on. Take a deep breath and start winding. Good luck.

Well, I got the spring in, but the barrel is turning. I know the spring is in right?

What does this gear do? Right now it touches nothing?

There should be a large gear on the spring barrel that drives that gear. If that is missing that is why the spring barrel is turning.

There is no gear on that end of the barrel. I knew that gear had something to do with it. Thanks Bob.

Ronnie, I sent you an email. Don't buy a gear, I'll send you one for free.

My hands are still sore? Its been 10 years since I replaced a Home spring, but I don't remember them being so hard. Now I get to play with that 2,4 minute gearing mess.
