Victor Horn Decals

I have a question on Victor horn decals. I have seen the circular Victor horn decals on front mount horns, and the larger B & B rear mount horns. I never see decals on the small rear mount ones used on the Victor I or E. Is there a reason why these decals were omitted? I'm restoring a small Victor rear mount horn that needs to be repainted. I see no evidence of a decal. I want to make sure this horn restoration is correct.

Harvey, if this helps...I have a very small black flower horn on a early Vic.1 and it has a typical red/black VTM round decal. Just as you would see on B&B horns.

I am FAR from one of the real experts on here. But I have been lurking for a couple of years, preparing to sell my Dad's rigid arm E (coming soon). I have looked high and low for every photo I could find. And in the couple of years I've been looking, given a small sample size (perhaps photos of 15-20 machines?): I've not found one with a horn decal or stenciling on the mount. My horn may have been painted...but I also see no sign of a decal. For what that's worth.

I have the small Victor flower horns, also. They have the Victor decal. I have an early small case Victor I and rear mount Victor E that have the small B & B horn. They have no decals. The one that I am restoring has no evidence of a decal. I have seen the larger B & B horns with a decal. This is a mystery to me. When I complete the small B & B horn, I don't want to put on a decal and make it wrong.

For what it's worth, I have a front mount Victor R with the black tin bell horn and it only has a pin stripe, no decal.

Hi Harvey-- I have one small rear-mount horn with a decal and one without. My Victor I has the small B/B with the trademark decal. I have another identical horn on my shelves without a decal. I formerly owned a nice rear-mount E-- no decal on that horn. Also- I have two small front-mount horns--one with, one without. So.. They came both ways. Pure guess-- Earlier horns without a decal--later ones with decal ??? Just a guess.

Hi Harvey-- Attached are pics of two rear-mount 15" Victor horns-- The horn on my Victor I has a decal-- The other horn (an "extra") does NOT have a decal. I suspect that the earlier horns (Vic E) did not have decals and that the later horns (Vic I) did, but that's just a semi-educated guess.
Thanks for your help on my Columbia motor!

I have read that the dog/his master's voice logo first appeared on records in July 1902, which is the time frame we are talking about on these horns. A simple guess might be that the horns were made just prior to widespread logo use.

Thanks for all the replies. I've came to the conclusion that the small early rear mount horns didn't have a decal. I am restoring a Victor I circa 1906-08. There is no evidence of a decal on the horn.
