Manhattan Record?

Post by Nat »

I just acquired a 12" recording of Anton van Rooy singing "Das Muhlrad" on the Manhattan Record Grand Opera Series label, supposedly 1902. The sound is very good, the best I've heard of van Rooy. But who was/were the Manhattan Record people? I can't find reference to them with google.

Manhattan Record. 1909-1915. Produced by Columbia for three retailers, all listed on the label - Simpson Crawford Co., Siegel Cooper & Co. and Henry Siegel Co.
