Edison 5700 series diamond Discs?

Post by Dustie89 »

I'm trying to find out more info on Edison DD in the 5700 series. I believe they were foreign music and had different labels. If anyone can shed light on it let me know.

Thanks

There were 57000 series DDs which were ethnic series issues. Going from memory, I believe they were German.

Yes: I have one, #57002, containing a couple of ländlers by the Oberbayerische Bauernkapelle (recorded in New York)...

As others have stated, the 57000 series was the German series. Some of the later issues in that series did have a different paper label that omitted Edison's portrait and signature in favor of more white space. See p. 35 of the Collector's Guide for a photo and a complete list of all the foreign and ethnic series ranges.
