Here's a Hawthorne & Sheble/Columbia floor crane:

and another one that I believe is a Tea Tray:

Nick,

I have a pretty hard to find floor crane. It is depicted in an early Hawthorn and Sheble catalog as "No. 1". I've included both the add and a picture of the crane. The picture I have is of the crane folded (As in the ad). I can take additional pictures if you would like. This one is japanned rather than nickel plated, which makes it much more unusual. It is solid, will hold many a size of horn and is all original. All of the correct thumb screws are present as well as the original "J" hook on the top part of the crane. A really nice piece for $185.00 if you can use it.

I believe Shawn's crane is a good value for a nice original floor crane. If you are just interested in something that will work, buy an old music stand and make the upper half. But if you want something really nice, they are somewhat unusual and usually more expensive than $185. Jerry

That's a good idea to make a floor crane from a music stand. I play the trombone so I have several music stands around.
