Ortho secured!

I really want this one. After some wonderful Forum chaps talked me out of a far-altered Brunswick, I decided to look further abroad and this came up. It's 160 miles from me, but it may be closer to one of you. I would gladly pay somebody what they pay for the machine + a buyer-by-proxy fee (which can be decided in a PM). This way I can pick it up without jeopardizing my work and school schedules, while still not losing the Victrola.

If anybody can help me out, assuming the item in question is still available, that would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I got it! I will be picking it up tomorrow!

Much better choice, just check out the reproducer and back bracket on the orthophonic, since they are usually potmetal. If in good condition, they are ok, but if cracked or broken, that's a different story. From the pics, both tonearms and back brackets look good and the larger machine may have a brass reproducer - if that's the case, the reproducer is worth that much. Even potmetal reproducers in good condition are worth $100 apiece.

Get them !

The 8-12 Orthophonic is an excellent machine !

That little 2-55 portable is probably one of the best portables ever made, also.

Price is right.

Ooh, am I glad that y'all think it's as good a deal as I do! I heard back from the seller, and yes, it's still available! Hoping to get it tomorrow, as it's the last day off of work before school starts.

I am not getting the portable, just the Ortho.

However.

I already have an Edison H-19 (which I am currently listening to) and Jerry B. will soon be sending me an Edison Standard.

So that's three :)

Looks like you will be getting some early records too. I am sure you will be able to negotiate something for the portable. Go for it1

That portable is worth nearly $200 on its own if it is in proper working condition.
