Pictures of today's catch

As per the requests of a few cool dudes on here, I am providing pictures of my VV 8-12 and the little Portable (as well as my H-19). Please note that all of my belongings are crammed into an 11x11 room and that includes my bed, so if it looks cramped, it's because it is.

I will add more pics when I receive the Standard from Jerry B.

Here is the little guy. I never knew such a small thing could make such big sound; it's possibly even louder than the H-19, but maybe when Steve Medved rebuilds my reproducer, that will change.

I think it has the original grille cloth?? Not sure though. It looks old.

The new VV 8-12 is kinda rough and makes loud thumping noises, but it plays well.

All my slots are full :)

Unless bad camera angle....the reproducer seems to have a chuck out of it. If so, then it's potmetal.

Unless bad camera angle....the reproducer seems to have a chuck out of it. If so, then it's potmetal.

It's pot metal, but it's all there. Must have been the angle. Actually, the one on the big machine came with the Portable because the big one's original reproducer has tiny cracks all over.

Very nice looking grouping of phonos. Your Standard will soon be on its way. Yesterday I installed a new set of governor springs and weights and made a new belt. I oiled the critical spots and after a few adjustments played four minute cylinders with a 14" horn. It's always a good sign when you can play four minute cylinders with quite a bit of mass hanging off the reproducer.

The 8-12 most likely left Camden with a pot-metal reproducer, this model having been introduced in 1927 (?)...

What is the serial # on the 8-12 ?

Also, how many screws secure the crank escutcheon to the side of the cabinet: 2 or 3 ?

My Great-grandmother's 8-12 has black-oxidized bronze hardware...

Very nice collection you have going there... my first Diamond-Disc machine was an S-19 Sheraton, which I think played nicer than either of my two C-19's...
