Hello everyone, I recently inherited a victrola machine that is in very good shape although, it wont play a record. I took the machine apart and found that the spring inside the motor isnt attached to the roll pin on the center hub of the motor. Now should that spring and pin be one piece or do those pins wear down after being cranked up over time. Can I replace just that pin or do I need to order a whole spring? Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the pin that Im talking about when I had it apart but if someone could help me that would be great. Thanks!

The spring and pin are two separate items... Usually the pin will not wear down, however in the past 100 yrs who knows what someone has done to it... If it is physically there, then the spring has become unhooked from it and needs to be re-hooked. Can you tell whether the spring is totally intact? It could have a break in it that is not obvious at first glance... It is probably one of two things: unhooked spring or broken spring...

The spring does seem to be fully intact, now I didnt remove it from the drum as it didnt want to deal with that mess. But it was unhooked from the pin, and used a pliers to try and set it back on the pin and when I reinstalled everything and went to wind it up, i heard it pop off again and there was no resistance while winding again. Is it possible that I just didnt have the pin on all the way? I didnt seem like there was much pin sticking out for it to sit on thats why I thought maybe it was broken.
