Hy everyone.. i bought a standard B edison.. with 2/4 minutes gear... the mandrel has a dent... so i bought a new one on ebay.... the question is... how can i remove the old mandrel from the machine and install the new one?? i have to remove 2/4 minutes gear?? thank you

Remove the 2/4 minute gear cluster from the end of the mandrel shaft. Either one or two setscrews should be retaining it. This should allow the mandrel to slide out. Word of caution, 100 years of old dried oil may be holding/gluing everything tight. If so, you could try soaking in penetrating oil. With a small torch I will sometimes heat up the gear cluster to melt the old oil. If you try this, DO NOT USE TOO MUCH HEAT. A good test is to periodically put a drop of water on the item you're heating. If it boils off you probably don't need to get much hotter.
