Big Thank You To Dave D !!

Post by FellowCollector »

I would like to publicly thank one of our members, Dave D, for all of his kind and courteous help with assisting me behind the scenes with completing my Nickeled and Polished Columbia Eagle (see below) that needed a spring barrel screw that I could not find anywhere.

Dave graciously made up a few screws, nickel plated them and sent them to me with hopes that one of the screws would work. Today, one of the screws fit perfectly and I will now be able to put the springs into this lovely phonograph and allow her to sing once again after all these years.

Dave D: Thanks for your kind consideration and for taking the time and effort to help out a fellow member. I hope that someday I may be able to return the favor.

Doug

Yes, the Forum is made up of some great individuals. You should have warned us to wear sunglasses before we looked at the photo. :) It's gorgeous. Jerry Blais

Doug,
Glad you got the screw you needed! Will you make a video of it for your YouTube channel?

Thanks Nick. Yes indeed! I'm hoping to post a video on my channel of this Eagle playing just as soon as I'm all set with it.

There are some great folks on this Forum, and Dave is one of them! :)

I wish my nickeled & polished Eagle shined like yours, Doug. I must be using the wrong polish... :)

Amazin' what a little spit and an old T-shirt can do!

Seriously, though, this little Eagle was obviously not used much and was carefully put away in all probability after one of its springs let loose. Someone long ago removed ( and lost  ) the screw on the spring barrel that secured the broken spring. They must have looked inside the hole in the barrel and decided it wasn't worth the trouble to fix it and stored it away.

Thanks for all the kind comments! Hoping to get her running again soon!

I have an excellent example of an Eagle, but for some reason I've turned green.
Congratulations on owning a superb specimen. :D

What a nice machine. I just finished an eagle my self but no amount of careful buffing will ever bring my machine close to yours - nice job!

You are right about the help on this forum there are lots of great guys and gals out there which are knowledgeable and helpful.

Very nice machine. I had two of them and sold them for financial reasons..I hope to buy one again. That is the most beautiful Eagle I have ever seen.

We have so many great members on this forum. I am so thankful for their help.
