Cleaning technique for brass mandrel

Post by ehs004 »

Does anyone have any surefire way of cleaning a brass mandrel? Not to over polish just clean!
Thanks Eric

Never cleaned a brass mandrel, but I use ammonia and a tooth brush for cleaning metal plating on reproducers, ect and it works extremely well so try some ammonia.

A paste of vinegar and salt is also good for basic brass cleaning.

I have very good results with lemon juice and salt. Squeeze 6 lemons and dissolve a dessert spoon of salt. Filter the mix and use it with a a sponge or rag soaked and rub gently the piece.
