FOR SALE: Sonora Baby Grand (PA) Wayne Delivery - $500

Post by DrGregC »

From my personal collection, I am offering for sale a beautiful and complete Sonora Baby Grand with the distinctive bombe cabinetry that makes these models so desirable. It is available for local pick-up in the Philadelphia area or free delivery to the Wayne show on Sunday April 19. This is an excellent Baby Grand. The cabinet is in great condition. The motor is strong and quiet. The reproducer was professionally rebuilt. As seen in the photos, I have a Sonora catalog and some original paperwork included. I am receptive to any fair offer. Please PM me if you are seriously interested. I would be happy to answer your questions and provide any additional pictures that you request. Thanks.

It has not been stripped and refinished. I believe the previous owner removed the alligatoring and damaged shellac using Kotton Klenser and 0000 steel wool. It looks good, but there is a difference between the original finish inside the lid and the outside of the cabinet. Thanks for asking.

I checked my records. I paid $650 for the Sonora with the printed materials in December 2003. Not sure what I paid to have the reproducer re-built. Any fair offers will be considered. Please PM me with any offers. Thanks!

The MME in Wayne, NJ, is 3 weeks away on April 19. I purchased the Sonora in December 2003. The only work I had done was a professional rebuild of the reproducer. It sounds great now. I think $650 is a fair price for this machine with the paper ephemera. My wife is talking about downsizing. I would like to sell this machine, so any reasonable offer will be considered. Please PM me with any questions or offers. Thanks.

Before I put it on eBay, one last attempt to sell this beautiful Sonora on the TMF and save all of the aggravation and fees associated with eBay/PayPal.

$500 buys it. No room to bargain at this price. Thanks!

Just spent 2 weeks on eBay. Lots of interest. Lots of questions. But, no sale.

I put together this quick YouTube video to show the spring motor function, speed stability, and sound quality.

Thanks for your interest!

I didn't realize that the Fall Wayne show was going to be in September this year.

I am still interested in selling my beautiful, all original Sonora Baby Grand. Details above, including a video link. I have over $650 in the machine, but am willing to sell it for $500. You won't be disappointed. A recent post from a newbie who asked what to collect said - Victor, Edison, Columbia, and Sonora. Here is a beautiful example for your first Sonora.

Local pick-up in the Philadelphia area (19454) or I can deliver it to the Wayne show on Sunday, September 20. PM me with any questions. Thanks.

Greg
