A100 question

Ok, this will be subjective I know. Can anyone throw out their 2 cents on the value of an A100 for an un-restored, but seems to be all there, model? Other than what is in Frow's book, anything else to know? Is there a serial number index anywhere to guess at a manufacturer date?

The A-100 is fairly common, perhaps not quite as common the Sheraton and Hepplewhite machines, but still fairly easily found. The disadvantage of the A-100 is that is has spindly legs and no record storage. Personally, if I wanted a (relatively) small Edison, I would either go for a B-19 or B-80 table top machine.

However, if you specifically want an A-100, then by all means go for it. As for prices, they're around $200-$300 on Craigslist. Figure $350-$450 for one in a mid-range antique store.

I do not know of any production index for these.

I just love my A100. It has the original 32 disc cabinet that came with it. The cabinets are very seldom seen. The A100 is very similar looking to my Amberola III.

Cool, I've never seen a drawer with a A100. Was it factory? Early or late production?

I like the candlestick. 20AL? That viewer is cool as well. I need one of those for our room as well.

This is our music room. The 20AL has a period ringer Box as well.

Just to clarify, the record storage drawers were NOT Edison factory items, but manufactured by other firms. An A-100 without one of these aftermarket cabinets is not incomplete.

Thanks for the info and the pix. Turns out I ended up convincing the old gent to pass it down to his kids. It has been in his family since new. Maybe the next one!
