I have the chance to purchase a unique item so I have decided to list some of my favorite machines for sale to help defer costs.
I am offering a very nice Victor 6. The name plate uses a 6 not VI and the serial number is 5693. It has a slot crank and winds and play very well. The only thing I did to this machine is rebuild the reproducer. One nice “extra” is the volume control attached to the U-tube.
I can deliver this machine to the Union show in June.
Asking price is $5500. If you want more details or more pictures let me know via PM.

Re: FOR SALE: Victor 6 - $5,500
Dan,
I have a question on this Victor 6.
I can't tell from the pics here but which side are the hinges on?
I ask because the data plate says it's a "6" and not a "VI". All the 6's I've seen have the hinges on the left side of the case and the VI's have them at the back. All 6's that I've seen have the crank forward on the right side of the case so the lid release button can be place on the crank side in the center. This one has the crank at the back like the VI's.
Not saying it's wrong but I have only seen Victor 6's with the hinges on the left and the crank forward on the case. Does anyone here have any more info on this that they can share?
Mike

Mike,
The hinges are on the back for sure and the release is on the front. The tag has never been replaced so I'm confident it is all original and correct. Perhaps a transitional machine with an older tag or something.

Mine is labeled "6", with the crank towards the front, and is hinged on the left side.

Re: FOR SALE: Victor 6 - $5,500
Rene, what is your number ?. I had #580* and it also had the lid latch on the right. Yet, I have seen at least two other Vic. 6's in this range with a lid latch on the front, crank to the rear. There is also a lid design change around this same production period. I believe this was done as the early boards had a tendency of warping and or shrinking in the corners.TinfoilPhono wrote:Mine is labeled "6", with the crank towards the front, and is hinged on the left side.
Here are two pics. The first shows the early board which is mitered right across. The board made next, which has a solid core with a molding added around the outside edge.
I would be curious to know which board Dan's machine has.
So, as Dan wrote, it may be a transitional machine..??.
It would be rather easy to examine if the data plate was ever removed/replaced.
Sorry to high jack your for sale ad Dan..

Pics showing the motor boards of other machines have been removed in order to just show Dan's for sale.
