While looking at the phonographs to be auctioned at the last Stanton Auction, I noticed that only one Edison machine with a cygnet horn had the correct support hardware. The rest were a comical and often inventive collection of junk.
Attached are two photos. One labeled "good" is what is currently available from various suppliers. Note that it lacks the ball on the top and the adjustment nut is simply a knurled binding nut from the hardware store.
The second photo labeled "better" shows the same rod and spring, but with a ball on top and the proper looking adjustment nut.
I made some of the nuts and balls to allow those with older reproduction items to upgrade the look. The ball is nickel plated brass and will thread on the top of the rod and the nut is unplated steel, like the originals.
They are threaded to 10-32. If you need a different thread, I can help you out with that.
The price for the ball and nut only is $20 post paid in the USA. Slightly higher for other countries. You only get the nut and the ball, not the rod or spring.
PayPal is fine as long as it does not cost me to accept the payment or a check, cash or money order will be fine, too.
Please PM me for details.
