This is a rare opportunity for you to own and enjoy one of the most elusive, stunningly attractive, beautifully designed and finest performing phonographs of the 1920's.
- The Story -
I recently had the good fortune to purchase a nice original Brunswick Cortez phonograph from the estate of a friend whom I had not heard from in nearly 20 years!
I had always admired my friend's Cortez and expressed interest in purchasing or trading for it all those years ago even though I already owned a Cortez! I still own and very much enjoy mine. He vowed only to allow his Cortez to be sold after his passing since he truly cherished every aspect about it.
As mentioned earlier, we lost contact with one another for nearly 20 years so you can imagine how stunned I was when several weeks ago I was contacted by the executor of his estate asking if I was still interested in purchasing my friend's Cortez after all these years.
I responded with excitement that I would indeed be interested. I made the trip that very day to pick it up and it has been sitting in my living room ever since.
If you have ever experienced the sound in person of a Brunswick Cortez you will never forget it.
The Brunswick Cortez produces absolutely amazing and breathtaking sound, IMHO.
With crystal clear reproduction and outstanding volume, the beautifully designed all brass Brunswick Cortez reproducer extracts every bit of sound possible within the record groove and sends it through a meticulously designed long-sweeping spruce horn which was also Brunswick's largest and most expensive horn at that time.
The Cortez spring motor is the finest designed spring motor I have ever seen and heard. It runs with complete silence. Compared with Victor's finest spring motors or even the highest quality Swiss made music box spring motors (I have worked on several in my collection!), the Brunswick Cortez motor exceeds all of them in every performance aspect.
All of this culminates in a listening experience that I personally consider to be the finest on the planet for a phonograph of this era.
I prefer the sound of the Brunswick Cortez over either of my Victor Credenza's and believe me, I'm a very critical "listener".
Since I already own a nice Brunswick Cortez in my collection seen and heard here:

...and with my wife's encouragement, I am offering the recently acquired Brunswick Cortez for sale.
The price is $1200 and it's worth every cent. I will post pictures just as soon as I can get someone to help me carefully move it out onto our deck so that I may take pictures in natural light which I feel will represent it best for the prospective buyer.
This is a pretty hefty phonograph.
I would prefer pick up only (New York State).
If the buyer needs this to be shipped then pick up and delivery arrangements must be made and paid for by the buyer. We can discuss that offline.
This Brunswick Cortez sounds just as nice as the one I have in my collection (referenced above) so if you like the sound of that one you'll like the sound of this one.
If you enjoy listening to Victor Scrolls, Columbia Viva-Tonals and more (as I do!) then this is a unique opportunity to own one of the finest performing phonographs made.
Payment by PayPal, Money Order, Check or Cash in person is fine.
I'm sorry that I don't have pictures yet but I will be happy to provide details as best I can until I can get help to move it onto the deck for pictures. Just send me a PM and we'll go from there.
Thanks!
Doug
