Apparently a couple of dozen of these reproduction Pathé 'salon' or 'inter' 3" diameter cylinders were made in the past year or so. Like the Vulcan line of reproduction cylinders it's made from a plastic or resin material.
Anyone have one to spare?

I would also be interested in one of these. Does anyone have contact information about them?

They appear to have been made in possibly Prague, Czech Republic...

Re: WANTED: reproduction Pathé 'Salon' cylinder
I want one too! I emailed Vulcan Records several years asking if they woulld make them. Vulcan said it would cost several thousand dollars to tool up, would I be willing to pay for that? I replied for them to send me some numbers. I intended to co-op with some other collectors, but never heard back from Vulcan. They did not seem to think there was any worthwhile interest, but I hoped to prove them wrong. Perhaps some other forum members should pick up with Vulcan where I left off.

Latest comment by Vulcan:
It looks interesting. We did not have any hand in its manufacture.
We have considered, for some time, the idea of making Pathé cylinders ourselves. The problem is that there is a large amount of tooling up to do since it such a different size to either the standards or the concerts. All tools etc would have to be made from scratch before we could go ahead, boxes are special as are labels, etc, etc. One day, we hope!

The last few I bought were original, no mold, played quite well, with correct boxes and lids - you can find them sometimes on EBay France which is where I bought mine over the years -but be prepared to pay at lot of $$$$ for shipping from France to the USA

I would be a nervous wreck shipping large wax cylinders overseas. Instead, a friend brought me back a couple directly from Paris.briankeith wrote:The last few I bought were original, no mold, played quite well, with correct boxes and lids - you can find them sometimes on EBay France which is where I bought mine over the years -but be prepared to pay at lot of $$$$ for shipping from France to the USA

Those indestructible Pathé cylinders were made by Tomas Cizner. See 'tomascizner' on eBay or send him an email at 'tcizner(at sign)seznam(dot)cz'
As for Vulcan Records, I've also expressed my interest in purchasing Salon/Inter size cylinders from them, more than once... and even offered to help fund the project, but no luck!

This happened to a Caruso Pathé Salon cylinder in near mint condition, shipped from London to Berlin: http://grammophon-platten.de/e107_plugi ... .php?25753VintageTechnologies wrote:I would be a nervous wreck shipping large wax cylinders overseas.
