Edisonia - My Blue Heaven - Vaughn Deleath

Post by Victrolacollector »

Edisonia has put out a nice cylinder copy of "My Blue Heaven" by Vaughn Deleath. I really think this is a great cylinder, purchased my copy buy-it-now on E-Bay.

Are originals of this title rare?

There are three versions of this tune on Blue Amberol, 5430 - My Blue Heaven - Al Friedman and His "Yoeng's" Orchestra - composers - George Whiting & Walter Dondaldson and 5470 - My Blue Heaven - Vaughn De Leath and 5471 - My Blue Heaven (Pollack) - piano. These show up occasionally on eBay.

The 5470 version is also on Diamond Disc 52192-R, with the flip-side 52192-L as Keep sweeping the cobwebs off the moon - Foxtrot (Levant, Lewis, Young by Vaughn De Leath.

5470 is the less hotter version with guitar accompaniment, but my absolute favorite. The whistling comes in great, all is well-arranged.

From what I have seen over the years, the 5430 orchestra version is a lot more common than 5470. It roughly takes ten copies of 5430 to see one of 5470, which I both have. I cannot say anything about 5471.

"I Want to Meander in the Meadow" - Phil Spitalny and his orchestra

Now that's the kind of late Amberols that I like!

Thank you so much! I just dispatched them this morning.

Some of these Days will likely come next spring. Overall sales have been slowing down, so my turns of releases had to be slowed down accordingly. From what I have heard, the whole phono market is affected, not only me.

But before that, I'll be putting out 'Honey', continueing the original BA 5700's series with BA 5714.

Rose Room is one indeed nice, with the BA I am close to that one as it gets as only the flip side "I fell head-over-heels in love" was released on BA 5492. But I have several Diamond Discs with nice dance titles. Just don't want to make promises too much ahead, things are so often subject to unforeseen changes...

Just finished Deep Henderson by Charley Skeete to be ready for the show.

I, also, will attest to Norman's wonderful service to our community . Thanks to Norman, also, for that information. I am looking forward to "Deep Henderson".

That being said, let me say that I, too, am hoping for releases of:

"Fire!" - Earl Olivers Jazz Babies
"Sometimes I'm Happy" - Al Lynn's Music Masters
"Henry's Made a Lady out of Lizzy" - Billy Jones & Ernest Hare
"I Can't Give You Anything But Love" - B.A. Rolfe and his Concert Orchestra
"Hallelujah!" (from Hit the Deck) - Fox Trot - Arthur Fields
"Susianna" -Picadilly Players
"I Want to Meander in the Meadow" - Phil Spitalny and his orchestra
"I Want to Be Bad" - Ermine Calloway

Especially, "I want To Be Bad". I realize , now, at 79, that I was not nearly "Bad" enough and really recommend it.

Cheers,
John
