French "Merrophone"

Post by Gramtastic »

Here's one for our French experts ! This machine is badged "Merrophone MD Paris". My questions are; is it made by Merrophone and has had a Pathé reproducer added at some stage or is it made by Pathé and "Merrophone" is the model ? Internet searches for this name don't come up with anything. Also, inside the lid is the outline of where some sort of wooden "box" was , presumably to hold the reproducer when packed away - anyone know what it would have looked like ?
Any info gratefully received !

It is not a Pathé, the parts other than the reproducer are not Pathé. Although I never saw this particular brand, I have stumbled on a number of similar machines made with Swiss parts and sold under different labels. I have a couple of Heliphone machines, also branded as Paris-made, one with the original reproducer and the other with a Pathé.
