Thoren No.328 Rio ?

Post by casey-eamonn »

Hi all
I m putting up pictures of my most recent purchase.I think it's a Thoren Rio, and was wondering what you think.
The sound box is a 'Duretta' so I presume its added later.
According to the Thoren catalogue of 1914, the weights and sizes of my machine seem to fit perfectly.
The previous owner warned me not to clean or polish too much or I d never be able to sell it again if U wanted to but to be honest the first chance I have time I m hoping to re finish the case and maybe replate the hardware as its pretty bad as is.

Original horn sold to me.The previous owner claims is correct with this machine. According to the Thoren catalogue its very close size wise ,this one is 51 cm with the catalogue showing 55 cm.

Motor board. As well as brake and speed control it has two needle cups which is a little different to the thoren catalogue Rio.

Front view, don't know how the oval plack of wood on front board fits in but its original to this machine.
