Re: Dating my Edison Triumph
Your serial number is too low to be a B model, but it fits within the known range for A models. The A/B models began around No.45,000 (45025 is the earliest known A/B model) and ended around 50,000 (50,636 is the earliest B model known). NOTE: there is some intermixing of numbers between the A models and the A/B models. This is probably true with the transition from A/B models to B models as well.
The so-called A/B model Triumphs have a model A mechanism in the cabinet we associate with a model B.
I was just today discussing with a friend my frustration in not yet developing a dating formula for the Spring Motor/Triumph Phonographs. Admittedly, I haven't delved into this for at least the past 6 months. Perhaps this winter I'll give it another go...
Sorry I can't be more specific.

Re: Dating my Edison Triumph
Alistair,
As I wrote above, I have not yet developed a 100% reliable dating formula for the Spring Motor/Triumph. I have put in many hours of work on this, but for every combination of Triumph-derived machines to be included/left out, there has been a glitch. I have a couple of ideas to try...
The Gem, Standard, Home, and Concert were relatively easy. Not so the Triumph.
I'll certainly post something here on the TMF should I "crack the code."
