Are you looking for manuals so that you can have them available for reference or do you need them to help you through necessary repairs or operating issues? If you are in need of repair and maintenance advice many of us here on the forum can help you with that. Simply post what you need help with. Just the same, I agree that the manuals would be nice to have if you can find them.

It would be wonderful if all the Edison ephemera on the factory repair instructions would be available.

Hi All,
I want the manual and other literature not only to have with the machine but for repair in the future if needed. Also I have found when changing the speed I am some times in a mode where the lead screw does not propel the mandrel. I need to build a stand that I can place the mechanism on to observe the speed change operating but have not done that yet. The reproducer that came with the machine is I think an early M as it has a round rather than spade weight. I wonder if this might damage 4 min. wax records. The serial number of the machine I at first thought was 4940 is truly 2940 but one needs very good light and close examination to see it is a 2. I would like any input on the speed situation and would like any information on its provenance i.e. where it was first found, who found it, etc. if this information is out there among you.
Thank You All kindly,
Allen

Hi Allen,
Just curious, have you tried removing the left side gear cover yet on your Amberola 1A? Examine that area first while running the motor and upper works before you opt to remove the entire mechanism. Careful examination of this area at standstill as well as during operation will expose some of the details that may be helpful to you.

After you examine that area and you're confident that all appears to be functioning just fine then it may be time to have a good look at what is going on under the bedplate. Sometimes exposure of what may be malfunctioning or require adjustment relative to speed change and speed adjustment can be examined and adjusted "topside" on the Edison Opera/Amberola 1A/Amberola 1B/Amberola III but not always particularly with the Amberola 1A motor.

The Amberola 1A mechanism can be propped up on the left side for examination of the motor.

Let us know and be very cautious when making an adjustment (if you do!) with the motor under tension - especially if you adjust the governor position or the governor bearings.

Good luck,
Doug
