Found Columbia Grafonola Cabinet with Ejector Buttons

I purchased this cabinet with ejector buttons at a second hand store. The cabinet appears to have been varnished in the past and is in rough condition. The internal mechanism is complete and in excellent shape. It even has a full set or records inside. Wondering if this has any value to keep in original condition, or if it is more of a curiosity and something that could be repurposed. My idea is to refinish the cabinet and use it as a stand for my modern turntable, and try to clean and preserve the mechanism for visual interest. What would you do with it?

Preserving the past is important. Most antique cabinets and many phonographs were re-purposed. Sometimes it can be a good thing that an antique was re-purposed rather than tossed in the garbage. Another consideration is how rare the cabinet is. I have never seen another like it. Stop and think before you separate the parts which may never be reunited in the future. Very nice cabinet.
