FOR SALE: Edison related - Inquire
Edison cross-related item I would like to sell because I have two of these. A very clean (on a scale of 1-10 this is a solid 9) Thomas A. Edison Edicraft clam-shell timer toaster. I am keeping the one that is NOS still in it's original box. The one I am selling is a clean and shiney example of this rather scarce toaster with minimal light scratches, comes with the original and perfect cloth plug-in detachable cord. But it has one issue - one clam does not always heat up and glow red. Sometimes yes most times no. I tried it last evening and both sides heated up fine which is rare. The other clam always heats up and glows red all the time so there must be a loose connection somewhere between the body and the clam shell. I'm not sure of value and will post a photo if anyone is interested. I am also open to trades.

Re: FOR SALE: Edison related - Inquire
In the late 1920s the "Edicraft" line of high-quality consumer appliances was developed at the laboratory and manufactured by Thomas A. Edison, Inc. Production of these very high end appliances was discontinued in 1934 due to lack of demand for luxury goods during the Great Depression. There are not to be confused with Edison Electric/Hotpoint or Edison/McGraw which came much later. Edicraft was manufactured at West Orange by Thomas A. Edison Inc.

I wonder what the "old man" thought about making appliances instead of phonographs after 1929 ?

As a retired chef, restaurant man, and Art deco enthusiast,, I am in awe! A nice slice of 1920's technology that makes you realize: all the "new" appliances we have today were really around 90 years ago! Well Done! (literally & figuratively)
