Anyone want a refinish job?
I have a green long case Home. It is the 2nd model A which takes the red banner on the case. I have never finished one with the green in it, so would someone take this on? Case will be stripped and ready to stain.

Are you sure you want to refinish it?Amberola wrote:I have a green long case Home. It is the 2nd model A which takes the red banner on the case. I have never finished one with the green in it, so would someone take this on? Case will be stripped and ready to stain.

Yes, it is too far gone. Luckily, the motor runs smooth and the bedplate will clean up nicely.Phonoboy wrote:Are you sure you want to refinish it?Amberola wrote:I have a green long case Home. I think it could be saved. The crackled finish can be remedied, the rest might be corrected with touch ups.
I'd exhaust all possibilities before striping.

Before you strip it, try GoJo or Goop hand cleaner on it and see what it does... use the type with no pumice.

If the hand cleaner doesn't work, try rubbing alcohol to re-amalgamate the original finish.

This one going to Martin or Martinola on the board. He will work his magic on it and see if he can save the original finish. I was very impressed with his work on the green Standard he finished.

That certainly looks like the later style, black letter banner to me...Amberola wrote:I have a green long case Home. It is the 2nd model A which takes the red banner on the case. Do you suppose the old banner turned red? It is the one that has been on it since the beginning. I can see no clues it has ever had a refinish?Lucius1958 wrote:That certainly looks like the later style, black letter banner to me...Amberola wrote:I have a green long case Home. Re: Anyone want a refinish job?
This one is worthy of any effort to keep the original finish. If it was mine, I would try the suggested remedies and not strip it.
