Cleaning Data Plates
What is safest 'stuff' to use to clean the Victrola ID plates without lifting the 'black' yet bringing out the letters and dog.

Re: Cleaning Data Plates
I use 0000 steel wool and wear rubber gloves. I lightly rub the high points very carefully. If you rub too hard, you may remove some of the black paint. If that happens, I use Tester's or Pactra hobby enamel with a fine brush to fill in the rubbed spots. There is also an excellent article in The Complete Talking Machine By Eric Reiess. If you don't have that book, I strongly suggest that you order a copy.
