- Menlo Park Reminiscences by Francis Jehl: three paperback volumes, approx. 4.5 by 7.25, published by the Edison Institute (Ford Museum). Volume 1 published 1937, Volume 2 1938, Volume 3 1941. Overall excellent. Volume 1 has been opened and the spine is cracked here and there, Volumes 2 & 3 are tight and appear unread. -- all three for $50 plus postage
- Edison's Open Door by Alfred O. Tate (Edison's private secretary): 6"x 8.75", hardbound, original dust jacket in perfect condition. plastic protective covering. Published 1938, excellent condition. $35 plus postage
- SOLD Edison's Conquest of Mars by Garrett P. Serviss. I wrote a detailed history of this very rare book HERE. This hardbound book is number 1044 of an edition totaling only 1500, published in 1947. It is in excellent condition and includes the very rare dust jacket. This jacket was so amateurish in appearance that the printer removed them from most books before sale, using a glassine wrapper instead. Only a handful of original dust jackets are known today. This dust jacket is excellent save for a small rub on the back cover, on the publisher's name at bottom, and a missing corner on the inside front flap. The jacket is protected by a plastic cover. A very rare book. ALSO INCLUDED: a small paperback book titled Invasion of Mars, a first edition from 1969 in excellent condition. This is a reprint of the original, rewritten by Forrest Ackerman to remove "some thousands of words of excess herbage" and fix "tortuously tangled syntax." In reality it's a pathetic hack job that takes all the life and fun out of the story. No wonder this paperback is even rarer than the original today. BOTH BOOKS for $125 plus postage.
- Guide Book for the Edison Institute Museum and Greenfield Village - This is a collection of 10 visitors' guides for the Edison Institute (now the Ford Museum) and Greenfield Village, adjacent to The Ford. They range in date from 1929, the year the museum was completed but before it was actually open, through the 1930s and 1940, up to 1957. They represent a wonderful history of the Ford Museum itself. If you are familiar with the museum and the village you will find it fascinating to see how they have evolved over the years. Comparing the maps of Greenfield Village to the village today is especially interesting. A lot has changed! The 1929 guide is hardbound, the rest are paperback. Most are excellent, Only two show significant wear, and only one(undated) has major creasing and folded pages (but no tears). Collection of 10 for $65 plus postage.
-- SOLD The Telephone, Microphone, and Phonograph by Count du Moncel, 1879. This hardbound book is one of the first to describe the phonograph. Approximately 30 pages are devoted to the phonograph, and include some of the most famous engravings made of the early tinfoil machine. Superb condition, appears unread with very tight spine. Exceptional. $75 plus postage.
-- SOLD Edison and his Inventions by J.B. McClure, 1896. This hardbound book is one of the most famous and collectible about Edison's early work. Needless to say the phonograph is covered in depth, including the 'Perfected Phonograph'(Class M). Very good condition. The paper is browning and several pages in the very beginning are loose (up to the middle of the table of contents). Most of the book is tight and secure. Very elaborate cover design. A classic rarity. $75 plus postage.
