FOR SALE: Columbia BF Cylinder Graphophone - $775
I am selling as nice a Columbia BF as I've seen in any collection. It's a two minute player and the finish, nickeling, paint, and decorations are outstanding, It has a powerful multi-spring motor and the mechanism does not have pot metal. If you are a condition collector, this BF is worthy of your consideration. I am happy to deliver to Union or APS at not cost. Please PM with any questions or interest. The price is $775. Thanks, Jerry Blais

That's one pretty Phonograph Jerry. At first glance I thought it was a US Opera. The bottom cabinet has the same shape.
This one wasn't mine but it was the same.

I thought that one of the most unique characteristics of the machine may not have been discussed , In 1906 - to compete with disc records - Columbia decided to increase the content of conventional 2-minute cylinders to 3 minutes by adding 50% more length to it (4-minute Amberol celluloid cylinders were not available until 1909). The 6" long cylinder is called the "Twentieth Century" format. Two players of the new B-series of graphophones, the BG and BF, were equipped with 6" cylinder mandrels, and - as all B models with the new Lyric 2-minute reproducer, that replaced the old floating reproducer.I am surprised that it is still for sale , the condition is superb!

Just for the sake of accuracy (and my OCDehs004 wrote: Jerry,

), the BC Graphophone was the first of the B-series machines equipped with a 6" mandrel, and introduced in April 1905. (The BC also employed a Higham reproducer.) The BF and BG were announced in September 1905 (along with the BE with a conventional 4" mandrel).

The BF offered in this thread is indeed a beauty, and with harder-to-find late decals.

And let's not forget the other 6" machine in the B series: the BO.
