edison upright L-19 on ebay... $1500?

Post by brianu »

I have one of these that I was looking to get rid of. mine needs some basic work and the finish needs some cleaning up... but it runs well, the cabinet is solid and in nice shape, as is the grill, etc. it would be an easy project. now, I know they're pretty scarce, but I don't see all that much that distinguishes them terribly from the typical edison uprights. one was recently offered for sale on another board, but no price was disclosed. then I saw this one on ebay...

$1500? it appears to be in great condition, and the walnut finish is nice. but I've never seen a relatively standard edison upright - even perfect C-250's, C-19's, even A or B-250's - go that high. is this a known seller and a legitimate sale? I was just really surprised.

It seems high but the fact that it was featured in a book makes it important and it looks like the front door has the mark of zorro :)

The seller often has nice things but tends to price them very high- some of his record prices are unrealistic (and I'm being polite saying that)

I bought some overpriced, over rated records from this seller in the past. He's on my "do not buy" list.

Agreed that his prices in general are about half or more higher than others for the same record as well as shipping prices. I didn't think this machine would go anywhere near that price let alone someone paying for it.
