Please correct me if I am wrong...
On the Victor Front mount/ rear mount phonographs I understand that they would sell a front mount with a plaque
covering the back bracket mounting holes. But what did they put over the holes if the machine was sold as a
rear mount? The picture shows front mount holes, should they be covered with a plaque as well? I read this is correct and only done for a short time while in transition from front to rear mount. Again.... please correct me if im wrong.

Re: Victor extra holes in back of cabinet
This is what the plate looks like that covers the screw holes for the back mount bracket on a front mount machine.
This is a plug that is seen on larger front mount machine to cover the front mount holes when the back bracket was used. I've never heard of it being used for anything other than covering the front mount holes even though there is a hole in it.
This plug only fits larger front mount machines and not the E or R models. Most of the time the front mount holes are just left exposed. I have seen more than once where the metal plate was trimmed and tacked over the front mount holes also.

Is that a rigid arm MS Larry?
Years ago I saw and accessory ad for a needle tin holder on a rod that went in the hole on the cover plug in your picture. I wish I had a copy of the ad now.

I have never seen a needle holder for this plug hole. It would be interesting to see one or find out the use of the hole anyway.
I don't have one but I have seen the needle holders that fasten to the back bracket thumb screw. They seldom show up.
