How do you remove the wood horn slats from a Victrola? Are they just glued in with hide glue, so you can use heat and water? I've got the top slat loosened up with heat and water, but it doesn't seem to want to come out...

Assuming you have separated the wood part of the horn from the metal part, look closely for assembly nails. Hot water applied to the joints for a few minutes should allow you to carefully knock the thing apart. Alcohol works well also, but you lose the shellac finish. It will come apart- just go easy with it.

I am not sure what model Victrola this is, but have you removed the horn from the cabinet? It will probably be much easier if you do that first.
