Orlando Phonograph Show Jan 22 & 23

Post by Crank_it_up »

It's right around the corner, the 20th annual Orlando show. Thinking of this being the 20th year is yet another way to make one feel old. I remember the excitement of the very first show and selling a Victor IV with a spear tip horn that I had worked on for months. I tried for several years to buy it back, but the owner still refuses to part with it. The venue has changed a few times but the great people that come every year are still there. A big shout out to Bob Cole and Richard Brown for keeping the show going and keeping the table rates reasonable allowing everyone to have a good time. It is a wonderful time of year to be in Central Florida, too. I look forward to seeing all the familiar faces that travel from all over the country to be here. I am one of the very few who have set up at every event. I only recall a few shows where the weather was bad (we once did pre show sales in the parking lot). One year we stood under the hotel's marquee where it read "29 degrees" and the wind was blowing at 15 knots. Weather forecast currently is calling for it to be 72 on Friday the 22nd. I look forward to seeing many of you all there.
Cheers!

Joe,

I couldn't agree with you more. Since I started to attend in 1999, I've set up and displayed music boxes, and branched out into phonographs primarily as a result of this show. People like you, the Gfells, Rolfs, etc. have always been most welcoming and willing to share their knowledge of phonographs with me. And every year I return home with lots of new goodies.

This year I have invited Rick Shindle of PA to share my booth, and he will be bringing some really nice items. I will have a mahogany Triumph, mahogany Home, and Kalamazoo Duplex on display.

See you soon!

It's a great show and a good time to catch some Florida sunshine for us two Cheeseheads from the frozen tundra. We'll be bringing a van load of Nipper items, phono toys, some phonographs, and lots of stuff including our Nipper books. Our new Nipper Collectibles Vol III will be available. Also, for anyone who has not already re-newed their APS membership or wants to become a member, we will have membership applications available. Hats off to Bob Cole and Richard Brown for making this one of the top shows of the year.

I echo Rob and Joan's comments on the Orlando show. Great weather, relaxed environment, great people, and lots of great phonographs and related items to be had! Can't wait to get out of the cold.

See you in a week!

Raphael, it's always great seeing what you bring, your stuff is always so nice!
Ronnie, we Party before, during AND afterwards! Just can't party like we did 20 years ago.
Joan, Rob, I'm bringing a plaster Nipper that looks like he got hit by a car, has a broken leg and needs your help, look forward to seeing you both.
Scott, what are you going to bring for me? Break into the good stuff, I like surprises.

Does anyone know if there is a way to just buy a ticket for Friday? I can't make it Saturday and don't want to spend money for both days!

Ronnie,
You should go... our best "friend" will be there... ;)

Actually, I wish I was going, since I really enjoyed last year's show... BUT taking care of a new grandbaby trumps everything else...
