eBay: Klingsor Table Top Model

Post by Paal1994 »

I have only seen pictures of large floor models of these Klingsor Phonographs. And I saw one in real life at La Phonogalerie in Paris.
But this is the first time I have seen a Klingsor Table Top model...

that machine really doesnt look right at all... at first, I just figured it was a floor model chopped down, but then looking at the strings in the horn opening... that doesn't look at all like what I've seen in klingsors before. also, I've only seen table models, never floor models, and the table models I've seen were quite tall, and tended to resemble a miniature secretary type desk, with the larger upper portion having the strings hung vertically.

I've seen this type of table model before. I think it's the real deal, but just a very low-end model.

Klingsor machines were made over a long period, I think this one must be a very late one. I once saw a picture of a Klingsor suitcase portable- it was quite terrible.

Well, it really looks somewhat strange to me too. Klingsor machines reached incredible price levels some years ago that several people started to make fake machines. I don't know if that is one of them but I know that this is the dealer who once sent me brown wax cylinder with no padding material and exchange in coins inside the cylinder.
It arrived in 13 pieces and he refused any responsibility. So, anyone beware!

His feedback profile speaks for itself.

Norman,

I did a big mistake a little while ago, I bought a cylinder from this seller in "excellent" condition.
Look at the digs in the grooves... makes the cylinder skip. The packing was good. But that is all.
Maybe he had learned from other bad packing jobs and started to pack properly?

The name rings a bell with me too. I sure this is the guy I bought a tin of fibre needles from.
They were listed as an "international" sale, but when I went to pay, I discovered he wouldn't accept paypal. (My fault really for not reading the listing entirely)
I then had to pay Steve, so Steve could pay this guy.
Then, he sends Steve a tin of loud tone needles
So poor old Steve had to send the tin back & finally gets the right tin. Steve sends me the tin, which was advertised as being half full of fibre needles, and I discover that the bamboo needles aren't HMVs at all, but some home made needles that wont even fit in the soundbox needle chuck!

I'm not at all surprized to read that feedback

If I remember correctly, this guy is one of Britains leading dealers!

Well friends, it really looks like, that this dealer has cheated several of us. It's probably just the mass of items he has that still keeps people's interest attracting.
But with several auctions I could clearly see by now that many of the popular bidders avoid him. And we all know why... :?

Hes cheated me too. I bought a horn gramophone back in maybe 98-99? It was a piece of junk, totally hodgepodged.

I have never dealt with this seller, but when someone sells stuff that cost more then a few $ & the only thing they put in the item description is the current currency rate,
I can really hear the alarm-bells ringing...

Re: the Klingsor, is there any good website with pictures and/or descriptions of them? The only one I've seen pictured before is the one pictured in Eric Reiss book. I find them very interesting.

Maybe anyone here has one & like to feature it?
