Golden Gate, New Camera and Microphone.

Post by larryh »

After over 800 videos with the old small Sony Camera I finally saw my way to upgrading so that the picture, now even on full screen is very clear and the sound with an external Microphone and adjustable volume level is much more like being in the room. Before when I played them back here even with decent stereo computer speakers it seemed shallow compared to the actual sound here. I think you will find this a great improvement and it will take forever to record over all these earlier selections with the new camera.

Here is Sweet Man played by the Golden Gate Orchestra. The Detail and airy sound is much more realistic than before where the camera sort of overplayed the sound.

Larry, I'd say that sounds pretty darn amazing! The presence and dynamics are very nice sounding. Clear, full, and articulate. Nice "PRaT".

Much better sound and picture. The record is an outstanding choice. I tried to buy a copy on ebay, but the price went through the roof. Better take care of that record! Keep making those videos Larry. :D

That's quite an improvement! The trumpet really projects.

Yes with the new camera and adjustable volume I can allow the loud parts to come though where in the old camera I had to mute it somewhat or it over played it. Now its more realistic as far as detail and volume.

Thanks for the positive comments.

Amazing improvement, although your old stuff wasn't bad at all. I'd like to know what new camera and mike you are using? Marc.

Marc,

I am using a Cannon EOS Rebel ESI. I purchased a seperate Rode Stereo Pro microphone. They both do a pretty fair job.. Sometimes I think the old one sounded better but it clouded the actually sound more than this one. That sometimes results in what in some ways seems like a shallower sound, but its more like what I hear here in most cases.
