Standard AA - Columbia AU speed problems

I have a Standard AA open works machine (Columbia AU) which is acting quirky. When playing the machine it slowly speeds up making the record sound like the chipmunks are singing. When I dial down the tiny speed control knob to slow it down to the correct playing speed it will eventually stall out completely after about 10-15 seconds. The governor springs and weights are brand new thanks to Ron Sitko and the machine has been cleaned and re-greased and oiled correctly. I understand these little machines are quite noisy but I just can't seem to get this machine to play a Standard record from start to finish at the correct speed. It has a good strong little spring that will play from start to finish but just too darn fast. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong?
