Serial Number on Columbia Graphophone
Where do you find the serial numbers for both Columbia AH and BF Pearless Graphophones?

Re: Serial Number on Columbia Graphophone
The serial numbers for the AH will depend upon which variation it is. Early models have the number stamped in the motor plate - beneath the edge of the turntable. The early style motor has an on/off lever at one corner. We'll call that "Home Plate." The serial number should be stamped at "First Base." Very early AHs do not have a serial number at that location (nor any other location, as reported by owners).
The serial numbers for the later AH should be found on the cast iron stanchion that supports the spindle.
The BF has a serial number stamped into a little round plate at the left end of the upper casting. It can not be seen from the front, but only when looking from the left (non-crank) side. If equipped with a 4-minute attachment, this plate may not be there.
