I've got it in I think E+ to near mint condition, but it's not really for sale. Although, I'm open to interesting trades, especially for good Edison DD's. Such as 52223, 52266, 52358, 52405, 52410, 52446, 52508, 52510, 52510, 52513, 52518, 52567, 52626, 52463, well, you get the idea. Marc.

Hi Marc.
I don't think I have anything that high right now, and this record is for a 15 year old collector friend of mine so I am not sure what I would be willing to trade since it is not for me, but I really enjoy helping this young man in his collecting, so I will look and see what I've got.

Thanks

John

Do you know why a 15 year old collector would be aware of that record? Maybe youtube? Is he the boy who came to Nestor's GSPS meeting?

Vulcan offers it on cylinder if your friend has a 4 min machine.

The transfer is excellent.

That's what I have it on.... cylinder, I would honestly sell my DD's if I could get them all on cylinder. Quite frankly, I have bought enough Edison DD 52,000 series records at higher prices (excess of $75.00). In recent years many DD's have taken a dive in market value. I would be hard pressed to even get back a ⅓ of what I have paid for them.

In 2008, people were buying them on e-bay in bidding wars, today it is different. I would rather have a 4 minute copy any day than pay absurd prices for a DD. It is just my opinion. I will add The Charleston as popular as it was is a very high priced DD, it was not even an electric issue. At one time Vulcan offered a copy of the Charleston in their catalog on 4 minute cylinder, but have not seen it for a while.

He is a big time music lover, Bing Crosby and others, he constantly surprises me with the music he knows about. He lives in West Virginia and has not been out here. I met him on the Facebook Phonograph Enthusiast group. I helped him get his first cylinder phonograph from Mike Sorter, and I send him records from time to time.

I guess it all depends on what DD records you are talking about, but many DD's can still go for very high prices if two avid collectors want the same record and it is in E+ or better condition. Here's one I tried to buy just last week. I was outbid though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/162030189311? ... EBIDX%3AIT
