Edison N56 & O Reproducers & 1 Recorder at ShopGoodwill

Post by CDBPDX »

Every once in a while, something really special shows up at the Goodwill auctions.

The recorder also seems to have an adaptor ring.

That's not an N, it's an N56, a rare reproducer made so that you can play wax Amberols on your Amberola V or VI (thus 5 6). These do not show up every day!

The recorder has a green wash which means it's 4-minute recorder. Much rarer than the 2-minute.

I could complain about "my" secret source for good bargains being disclosed here, but instead I think it's great that a charitable organization will make some good money on these really nice reproducers/recorder. I suggest that everyone explore this site for other collectible items. I have a long list of items won at good values right here. Last year I bought a rifle scope valued at close to $2k for a fraction of that. I also found good values on vintage motorcycle parts, car parts, and the Victor III just won a few months ago. But don't expect any bargains on jewelry ot currency, as it seems that there are no bargains involving gold, at least what I follow. Just my observations. I have scoured Goodwill shops for years and always find bargains, but this website makes them global. Good luck to all on this auction and others. Joe

Yes, my eyes popped when I casually "thumbed" through shopgoodwill.com as I usually do and came across an Edison O. And a trowel weight at that! ...

But it was already over $200 so I knew it was already "outed."

I agree, $ goes to a great employer! (And they always seem to have a plethora off diamond discs...)

Still a long time to go and it's over $750. The folks at Goodwill must be be thrilled. This will be fun to watch, and at this price I can only watch. Makes you wonder what else the donor dropped off at the store that day......

Just wanted to thank Cliff for your post about the reproducers at Goodwill. I was lucky to be the high bidder last night. Now I can't wait to get them. The group is an original N-56, a Model-O, and a brass 4-minute recorder.
