Loosening stiff elbow joint ? Kent lateral adapter...

The other day, I dug out my Kent Lateral adapter for Edison Diamond Disc players, and found that the lateral swing joint (elbow) has a "stiff spot", right in the middle if its range.

I have tried penetrating oil, but the stiffness persists.

Any suggestions on how to loosen ? I suspect the culprit is pot-metal swelling ? ( I believe the joint is held together via an internal snap ring - no screws or other visible means of securing. I am reluctant to try to pull it apart.)

I had the same trouble, I squirted Soft Scrub into the joint and worked it back and forth until it loosened, then worked it a while under water to remove the cleaner.
