What make Edison BA 5661 so valuable?

Post by Schlick »

I've seen this cylinder on the bay and I'm wondering if anyone here might know why this commands so much $ ?

$1500 and reserve still not met...
(And it doesn't even sound like Wm J. Bryan!? )

That's probably the highest I've seen for a BA. Even Kansas City Kitty usually goes for less than a grand.

See my post in this thread for a brief overview of quantities pressed to get an idea of just how rare the late cylinders are.

Worth every penny and then some! These are exceedingly rare cylinders. I will never be able to afford these originals. This is why I purchase the new releases from Berlin, Edisonia and Vulcan. While I am not getting an original, I can still enjoy the music at a fraction of the price. Some have mentioned that $ 80.00 for a new cylinder is expensive, it just shows us the value of these recordings.
